State police say a local resident has barricaded himself in his home and is currently in a standoff with authorities.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that the resident lives on Pine Ridge Drive in Wappingers Falls. Police released a statement saying that the man is armed with a handgun and multiple agencies are involved with the scene.

UPDATE: The Journal reported that the standoff ended in surrender around 6:45pm on Thursday. The 10-hour negotiation has been resolved peacefully.

The road was first closed this morning at 8am after a warrant was reportedly executed at the address by the US Social Security Administration. After the resident refused to let the agency in, police responded.

Right now crisis negotiators and tactical units from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department are assisting State Police and other agencies.

Pine Ridge Drive is currently closed between Locust Drive and Relyea Terrace. This is an evolving story and we will continue to update this page with more information as it becomes available.
