New York State Police say 23-year-old man was driving intoxicated when his car collided with a stopped police vehicle.

State Troopers from the Brewster barracks stopped a vehicle on Main Street in the Village of Brewster. The unnamed driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The suspect  was placed safely into a troopers car. At the same time,  Elder R. Martinez Giron, of Brewster, was driving a second vehicle on Main Street. Police allege that Giron failed to stay in his designated lane and collided into the back of a stopped patrol vehicle.

No one was injured as a result of the crash, but police believed Giron was intoxicated at the time of the crash. The 23-year-old provided police with a positive breath sample that revealed his blood alcohol content was .22%, close to three times the legal limit of intoxication.

Giron was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. He was issued traffic tickets ordering him to appear before the Village of Brewster Justice Court on February 8th.
