An Orange County man was charged with drunk driving after police allege he was spotted driving over 100 miles per hour on the New York State Thruway.

Police say just after midnight on New Year's Day, a vehicle was stopped for driving 110 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone on Interstate-87. State Police then suspected the driver, Matthew E. Doss, 25, of Monroe, was intoxicated.

Doss was taken to a State Police barracks in Newburgh where his blood alcohol level was determined to be 0.19%, over two times the legal limit.

Doss was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. He was released to a sober third party and given an appearance ticket to appear in Town of Newburgh Court on Jan. 19.
