If you have traveled the Newburgh-Beacon bridge in the last 6 months of so this is GREAT news.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the construction that's been causing traffic nightmares at all times of day and night should be done by November.

John Bellucci, chief of staff for the New York State Bridge Authority told the Journal, that the $95 million project is scheduled to be done by November, on track with the project's three-year schedule. He also said, "We expect construction to be done on time."

The construction recently has focused on the east bound side and has caused slow downs both night and day and even caused some commuters to travel to other bridges in an attempt to save time.

Bellucci told the Journal that roadwork on the left lanes on both sides of the bridge is nearly complete, and he expects traffic will be diverted into the left lanes in August for roadwork in the right lanes.

These repairs and renovations are expected to support the bridge for up to 50 years.
