Movie theaters are now taking serious new measures to keep movie goers safe. Unfortunately, stories of movie theater shootings seem to be making headlines more often than we could ever imagine. Colorado, Florida, Louisianan and Nashville have all seen these senseless acts of violence and now steps are being taken to prevent events like this from happening again.

Regal Cinemas, The Poughkeepsie Journal has reported, has recently added a new security memo to it's websites stating:

"Security issues have become a daily part of our lives in America. Regal Entertainment Group wants our customers and staff to feel comfortable and safe when visiting or working in our theaters. To ensure the safety of our guests and employees, backpacks and bags of any kind are subject to inspection prior to admission. We acknowledge that this procedure can cause some inconvenience and that it is not without flaws, but hope these are minor in comparison to increased safety."

Regal is the largest movie theater company with over 7,000 screens. Locally, we have three located in Kingston, Fishkill and Poughkeepsie and all are hot hangout spots here in the Hudson Valley. Have you been to the movies lately and we're you subjected to a search?

With more and more deaths happening at the hands of movie theater shootings, are these the necessary measures that needs to be taken? What do you think?
