It's the perfect time of year to do some exploring in and around the Hudson Valley.

One of my favorite websites is Hike the Hudson Valley and it explains, in detail, about hiking trails around the Hudson Valley. It breaks down the easy from the hard and even gives you a picture rating system.

Who doesn't like taking the perfect photo on a hike?

There may be a new trail to add to the list.

This Saturday May, 12th a new park will be opening in Catskill. The Scenic Hudson Valley and Greene Land Trust  will be hosting the dedication of Mawignack Preserve park in the Town of Catskill.

The celebration will begin at 10am and include a few remarks and a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Mawignack Preserve park has a one mile loop trail, which you can hike on Saturday with birder and naturalist Rich Guthrie.

The park is located  on Snake Road approximately 0.7 mile from the intersection with Jefferson Heights Road.
