Twenty nine years ago this week, if you went to the movies, chances are you saw "Pretty in Pink". I am still a BIG fan of the "80s Brat Pack". John Hughes the master of 80s movies made many but Pretty in Pink is on the top of my list to this day. It had an amazing cast, it had great music and fun fashion. Many dresses were ripped and re-sewn after this film debuted.

Yes Sixteen Candles and the Breakfast Club along with St Elmo's Fire and others kept us all in the theaters in the 80s. Not just because that is how you had to see a movie back then, but also because the films were chucked full of cool 80's stars. All of the films starred similar people but none seemed to have the amount of stars that still show up in Hollywood and on TV today as the film Pretty in Pink.

Pretty in Pink is a who's who, Molly Ringwald, James Spader, Andrew McCarthy, Annie Potts and Alan Harper ... I mean Jon Cryer. Got to love Duckie Dale. Twenty nine years later you can run threw the cast and see they all had some sort of staying power. You can also see that parts of their PIP character stayed with then in their current roles. Jon's Duckie character can be seen in almost every episode of Two and a Half Men. Not just the episode from this season were he dressed as Duckie for Halloween. And is it any surprise that James Spader's, Steff McKee eluded to James' ability to star in CBS' hit series The Black List? Okay, so maybe Steff isn't quite as dark as Raymond "Red" Reddington. but you get my point.

So this weekend if the box office and Netflix has you coming up short for something to watch, head back to the Prom with Pretty in Pink. Just whatever you do don't try to find an outfit from back then that still fits or is still in fashion. That could take this weekend to a completely different place and that is definitely a different blog post for sure. At least in my case. Happy viewing.
