Most Popular Hiking Trail in the Hudson Valley Closing Indefinitely in 2018
New York State will close one of the most popular hiking trails indefintely for repairs and construction.
As of Jan. 1, New York State will close Breakneck Ridge Trail, parking lot, and area around the train stop.
They will survey the trail conditions, undertake repairs, and begin constructing Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail.
During the closure the Metro-North train will not stop at Breakneck, and the whole area will be closed, according to The Highlands Current.
Breakneck attracts more than a thousand visitors a day on Summer weekends.
Park authorities plan to educate people and disperse them into the other 60 or 70 areas of parkland, create a park-and-ride lot on the Taconic State Parkway with shuttles to the state parks.
