As the weather gets warmer a lot of municipal pools in the Hudson Valley are now open.

Those that are now open include, in Newburgh the Aquatic Center, Middletown's three outdoor swimming pools as well as the Neversink Swimming Pool in Sullivan County.

In Ulster County residents in Rosendale have been waiting for their pool to be reopened for almost 5 years and will have to wait just a little longer according to the Times Herald Record.

It looks the the Rosendale Pool will open sometime in mid July as crews continue to get the new pools ready for swimmers with the volunteer fire departments of Bloomington, Cottekill, Rosendale and Tillson all taking turns filling up the pools with water.

Rosendale Supervisor Jeanne Walsh told the Times Herald Record that the 65 year old concrete pool was crumbling and found to be unsafe and it was completely dismantled and replaced with two new concrete pools that are just about done.

She also said that the community dug deep to find funding for the $1.7 million project with donations and fundraisers that took place at events like the Summer Swim Weekends at Williams Lake, the Rosendale Runs, and the Mermaid Parade. Part of the cost of the pools were partially covered by about $850,000 in state grants.
