More Name Changes to Hudson Valley Bridges, Roads

The Bear Mountain Bridge isn't the only heavily traveled area in the Hudson Valley which got a new name on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo signed a number of bills passed by the New York State Senate to change the names of roads, highways and bridges in the Hudson Valley.

The bridge on State Route 213 over the Rondout Creek in the town of Marbletown in Ulster County is now being called the "Kathy Cairo Davis Memorial Bridge." George A. Amedore, Jr. of the 46th Senate District started bill.

John J. Bonacic of the 42nd Senate District sponsored a bill to change the name of Route 17B in Sullivan County to "Woodstock Way."

Senator Bill Larkin, of the 39th Senate District, who spearheaded the name changing of the Bear Mountain Bridge also sponsored a bill to designate a portion of the state highway system in Newburgh as the "Gold Star Families Memorial Highway."

The intersection at Route 300 and Route 52 in the Town of Newburgh and continuing south on Route 300 to the intersection of Route 300 and Route 17K in the Town Newburgh will now be known as the "Gold Star Families Memorial Highway."

All of the bills were passed by the New York State Senate and Assembly and then sent to Gov. Cuomo to be signed. Cuomo signed the bills into law on Tuesday.
