A passenger's death in a March 4 car accident in Cornwall has led to the operator pleading guilty to manslaughter according to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.

Andras Geiger, 24, of Hungary admitted in court that he was driving at an excessive rate of speed on Pleasant Hill Road when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve. The vehicle struck a guardrail causing the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle causing the death. Geiger spent two months in Westchester Medical Center recovering from his injuries.

An analysis of the driver's blood found evidence of marijuana use along with a blood alcohol level of .07%.

Pursuant to the plea agreement entered into record on Oct. 11, the DA's office will recommend three to nine years in State prison at the sentencing being held on Dec. 7.
