A man is dead after falling 30 feet into the Hudson River at a popular tourist destination in Dutchess County.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that Shahedul Kahn from New York City was camping at Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park, near Mills Mansion, when he veered from a trail and wound up falling to his death.

The 34-year-old Queens man reportedly left the trail and traveled into the woods at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday. Kahn fell 30 feet into the Hudson River where police say he succumbed to fatal injuries.

State Park police are investigating the cause of the accident and conducting an autopsy on the body.

Last summer a woman tragically fell to her death while hiking in the Catskills. A 23-year-old woman from Dutchess County was taking pictures near Kaaterskill Falls when she fell over 180 feet.
