It was a heroes welcoming for a Palenville woman.

According to Hudson Valley 360, Morgan Voulo an E4 specialist with the U.S. Army returned home earlier this week after being deployed in Afghanistan for nine months.

Voulo, from Palenville in Greene County, was greeted by fire trucks from the Catskill, Leeds and Palenville fire departments and by officers from the Catskill Police department, state troopers and the Greene County Sheriff's office.

Denise Morgan-Sulkey, Voulo's mom, told Hudson Valley 360 that she is ecstatic about her daughter’s return home and that “I’m so happy she’s home — it’s been a long year, almost a year."

The welcome home celebration was put together by a bunch of people including the Greene County Tourism Marketing Manager Heather Bagshaw, who started contacting local agencies to see if they wanted to be a part of the celebration. She said that she was grateful that Voulo made it home safe and said it was great to be part of the welcoming ceremony, she also said, “Sometimes we don’t have everybody that does make it home, and it’s a great feeling to know she came home.”

Voula will not deployed again for another two years.
