A woman who is originally from the Hudson Valley who now lives in Georgia is paying it forward for the animals at Pets Alive in Middletown. Courtney Black is hiking the entire Appalachian Trail to raise money for Pets Alive in Middletown. She is only asking for $1 per mile which if she makes it the whole way would be $2200. Currently she has raised just over $800 and she has reach the 1200 mile mark on the trail. This is placing her behind goal but hopefully by the time she reaches New York and stops at Pets Alive for a visit she will be closer to her total goal.

Pets Alive is a no kill shelter / animal sanctuary located in Middletown. It is their mission to improve the life of companion animals everywhere though rescue, advocacy, adoption, collaboration and education. Courtney had spent time volunteering at Pets Alive when she lived in the Hudson Valley. When she moved to Georgia she looked for a similar place to volunteer and was sadden to learn that there was no such place near her in Savannah. Realizing this she decided that Pets Alive was a special place and she decided she want to do something to continue to contribute to their success.
