It is chili time again at Water Street Market in New Paltz. This Saturday is the 10th Annual Local Ingredient Chili Challenge. Once again this year they are accepting up to 25 entries. Participants are encourage to makes lots of chili as this event is well attended and we want everyone to have a chance to sample your chili before the judges declare a winner.

The local ingredient angle is part of the judging. Including as many local ingredients as you can carries weight with the judge.  Chilis are judged for first and second place in categories like best overall, best vegetarian, best professional, peoples choice and most original.

Chili eaters this delicious event runs from 12p to 3p. Come early so you have time to try all of samples. You can enjoy chili by purchasing tickets. They are a $1 each which gets you 3 oz of chili. You can buy 12 tickets for $10 and 25 for $20. Portion cups and spoons are provided so just bring your tastebuds and enjoy. All proceeds from this year's event will go the St. Joseph non-denominational food pantry who serves hundreds of local families. On average this event raises $2000.
