If you travel from Kingston to Port Ewen, make plans for a detour.

According to the Daily Freeman, the bridge that connects Kingston to Port Ewen is going to be closed to cars and pedestrians starting September 25th through September 30th from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The closures which have been planned for a while according to the Kingston Police Department, are being done to allow for a scheduled inspection of the bridge.

If you use the bridge that carries Wurts Street across the Rondout Creek and connects Kingston to Port Ewen, you should plan on using the suggested detour route.

Drivers should use the Route 9W bridge to cross the Rondout Creek, that bridge is just 1,000 feet east of the Wurts Street bridge.

The Wurts Street Bridge was inspected back in November of 2015 by the Department of Transportation and was rated structurally deficient, which lead to talks of possible replacement of the entire bridge, according to the Times Herald Record.
