If you've started to think that you, or someone you know, needs to find a summer job, but the idea of being stuck inside for the entire summer doesn’t strike your fancy, then this is for you. Become a lifeguard! Imagine you'll be outside, get to enjoy the beautiful weather, and you'll make people feel a lot safer just by being there.

The New York State Parks are looking for lifeguards for this summer and the lifeguards' exams will soon be held throughout the state. Jobs are available throughout the state, but there are new qualifying procedures for many of these positions.

While you can get all of the information needed to be a lifeguard at nysparks.com, here’s a few details to see if this is right for you.

You must be at least 16 years of age, have current certifications in several American Red Class classes including, but not limited to, Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED with waterfront skills module, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare providers, and Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR/AED with Waterpark Skills module for any lifeguard working at a park with water slides.

In addition, a full criminal background check will be conducted, plus you'll need to successfully complete the practical examination and any other training programs offered by the agency. There are exams scheduled to take place beginning this month, so get the complete list here.

Imagine, spending all summer outdoors, making some money, and helping people feel safe.
