Joey + Rory have received a special award from Joey Feek's home state of Indiana. The husband-and-wife duo were given the Sagamore of the Wabash award on Wednesday (Feb. 17).

Joey Feek's father, Jack Martin, accepted the award on behalf of his daughter and son-in-law from Indiana Reps. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and Melanie Wright (D-Yorktown). The Sagamore of the Wabash award is the highest distinction in the state of Indiana.

“Important Hoosier values, such as loving others, serving one’s country, following one’s dreams and showcasing grace and joy during difficult times, have all been exhibited by Joey and Rory,” Borders said during the award presentation. “I would like everyone to keep [Joey Feek] and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Since October, when doctors determined that Joey Feek's cancer is terminal, Joey + Rory, and their daughter Indiana, have been living in her hometown of Alexandria, Ind., to be closer to her parents and sisters.

On Monday (Feb. 15), the Feeks watched the 2016 Grammy Awards with some of Joey Feek's loved ones from Alexandria; Joey + Rory were nominated for Best Country Duo / Group Performance at the awards show, and even though they lost the category to Little Big Town, they say that the nod alone was “more than enough.”

In addition to receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash award, also on Wednesday, Joey + Rory celebrated Indy's second birthday.
