Is Beer Better in a Can or Bottle?
How do you like your beer?
We are getting ready for the 4th Annual Hudson River Craft Beer Festival on Saturday September 17th at Beacons Riverfront park from 1-5 p.m. and have to ask the question, if you drink beer, do you prefer it in a can or in a bottle?
We asked that question on the show this morning and the majority of people agree that a beer in a bottle taste better but according to a new survey beer is actually better in a can.
The people over at Thrillist did a study that they say proves that beer in a can is better than in a bottle and they gave us 3 reasons why.
1. Cans weigh less, so they're more convenient. To break it down, a six pack of cans weighs about five pounds, compared to a six pack of bottles that weighs about seven and a half pounds.
2. Beer doesn't last as long in a bottle. Brown beer bottles block out 99% of the light. But if they sit on the shelf for a while, that 1% can mess with the taste a little bit. Aluminum cans block out 100% of the light rays which is a good thing.
3. Cans are better for the environment. They're a little easier to recycle. And since they weigh less, they're cheaper to ship and it takes less gas to get them from point A to point B.
