He may be young, but I think he knows what he's doing.

The Orange County Sheriffs Office is welcoming a new addition to their team. His name is Skip and he's 15 months old. He also happens to be Malinois/Shepherd mix. The Orange County Sherriffs Office took to Facebook to welcome the new K-9 to the Hudson Valley on Friday, August 25.

Skip was born in Hungary and was purchased by the O.C Sheriffs Office with funds from a Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services grant. In the spring of 2018 Skip and his handler, Sergeant Dustin Palen, will be attending Explosive Detection training as well as Patrol training.

Sergeant Dustin Palen named Skip after a special member of the K-9 family. Skip was named in memory of former Deputy Sheriff Robert "Skip" Dooley who was also a member of the Orange County Sheriffs Office K-9 unit as a handler.

Welcome to the Hudson Valley Skip!
