Last week the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicted a warmer if wetter winter in the Hudson Valley. This week, HudsonValleyWeather.com released its winter outlook and the results aren't pretty: temperatures may be 1-3 degrees colder than normal and snowfall could be 25 to 50 percent greater than average.

According to HudsonValleyWeather.com, Poughkeepsie's average snowfall is 44.1 inches and last year's winter brought us 60.2 inches of snow, or 36.7 percent above average. This year, HudsonValleyWeather.com predicts we'll see between 55 and 65 inches of snow.

The NOAA's forecast called for a 33 percent chance that the region would experience more precipitation than normal.

The Old Farmers Almanac's winter forecast predicted bitterly cold temperatures and frequent storms this winter.
