Hudson Valley residents are in for a messy commute Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Snow will begin to fall late Tuesday afternoon and will mix with sleet and freezing rain by Tuesday night before changing over to rain by Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Putnam and Orange counties are under a winter weather advisory from Tuesday at 1PM through Wednesday at 9AM. Sullivan County is under a winter weather advisory beginning at 1PM and ending at 10AM Wednesday. Dutchess and Ulster counties are under a winter weather advisory from Tuesday at 4PM through Wednesday at 9AM.

Approximately 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation is possible during the weather event and up to a tenth of an inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

Tuesday evening's low temperature will be 31 degrees for Poughkeepsie. The National Weather Service forecast calls for temperatures to hover in the mid-40s Wednesday for the mid-Hudson region.
