A 15-year-old from the Hudson Valley finished second at the 2018 national Crossfit Games.

This past weekend, the world's best CrossFit athletes competed in Madison, Wisconsin in the 2018 CrossFit games looking to be named the "Fittest on Earth."

Four years ago Christian Gallaher of Wappinger began training CrossFit 845 in Wappingers Falls. Right away the coaches knew he had a special talent. That rang true in 2017 when he competed as the youngest athlete in the CrossFit Games field and finished fifth in the world.

After another year of training at CrossFit 845, the 15-year-old competed in the Crossfit Games and placed second for 14 and 15-year-olds.

"After enduring many setbacks, Christian absolutely dominated his 2018 journey leading up to the @crossfitgames," CrossFit 845 wrote on Facebook. "All to be donned the 2ND FITTEST TEEN (14-15) IN THE WORLD!"

The 5'7" 162 pound 15-year-old had eight top-five finishes at the 2018 games, including placing first in the Core Couplet.

"The best thing about having an athlete finish 2nd in the world at the CrossFit Games is that feeling of pride," CrossFit 845 Owner Dave Aisenstat told Hudson Valley Post. "Not just with him, but with my group of coaches who got him to this point for the last 4 years. I couldn’t be more proud of the combination between Christian’s work ethic and the years behind his hard work from the CF845 coaches."

Entering the 2018 CrossFit Games Gallaher was ranked #1 in New York State and the North East and #6 in the United States.
