A Hudson Valley teacher's assistant is accused of sexually abusing two minors housed at a local youth center.

On Wednesday, State Police at Highland charged 36-year-old Nicole Potts-Miller of Middletown with rape, a felony, and sexual abuse, a misdemeanor.

The arrest comes after an investigation into allegations that Potts-Miller had sexual contact and engaged in sexual conduct with two residents of the Highland Residential Center on Chodikee Lake Road Highland NY.

Potts-Miller was employed at the facility as a teacher’s assistant at the time of the alleged incidents, police say.

According to the Highland Residential Center's website, the youth center teaches juvenile delinquents, generally between the ages of 12 and 18. The center aims to incorporate a highly structured academic program with life skills and workplace competencies.

Potts-Miller was arraigned before in Town of Esopus Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of  $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

State Police were assisted by the Justice Center for the Protection of People With Special Needs.
