A New York State Trooper pulled double duty when he helped a Hudson Valley woman deliver a baby on Interstate 84.

On Friday, Christopher Liebler, a State Trooper stationed in East Fishkill, noticed a Honda Accord exit the roadway on I-84 near mile post marker 69.3 and enter the emergency vehicle U-turn.

Lielber followed the car into the U-turn and conducted a check on the vehicles occupants. He quickly learned that a passenger in the car’s front seat was in labor.

Liebler immediately contacted Putnam County 911 and requested EMS to respond to the scene. But the baby wanted to enter the world before emergency officials could arrive on the scene

Prior to Kent Volunteer Ambulance arriving on the scene Lielber helped the unnamed Hopewell Junction woman deliver a healthy baby girl.

The baby, named Emma, and her mother were transported to the Danbury Hospital.
