For the third time in less than a week, a Hudson Valley police department used Narcan to save someone’s life.

On Tuesday around 10:55 a.m., Town of Wallkill police responded to Slaughter Road for an emergency medical services call.

Police found an 18-year-old woman from the Town of Wallkill unconscious on the floor.

The victim was unresponsive and demonstrating signs of an overdose, police say.

An officer began administering emergency first aid, including the use of department-issued nasally delivered Narcan.

Within a minute, the victim regained consciousness and was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center.

On Wednesday, March 21, Town of Wallkill police used Narcan on a 29-year-old man on Decker Driver and a 30-year-old Berkman Drive. In both cases the men demonstrated signs of an overdose, police say. Both regained consciousness after Narcan was administered.

On Thursday, March 22, Village of Wappingers Falls police used three doses of Narcan after finding a 30-year-old man unresponsive in a town plaza.

Narcan is a drug that’s proven to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.
