A Hudson Valley man lost his life after he was hit by two vehicles.

On Thursday, East Fishkill police responded to a report of a person struck by a truck on Lime Kiln Road in Hopewell Junction.

Arriving officers found a male victim on the road and two vehicles that stopped after they were involved in the accident.

A preliminary investigation indicates 44-year-old Rudolph Thompson of the Town of Poughkeepsie was hit by a tractor-trailer while walking in the southbound driving lane of Lime Kiln Road, police say.

Moments later, Thompson was struck by a Ford Focus. He was declared dead at the scene.

The truck driver, 53-year-old Philip Silvarole of Scottsville, and Ford driver, 24-year-old Andrew Lavery of Carmel, remained on the scene after the accident. Both weren’t injured.

According to East Fishkill Police, the incident happened on a four-lane portion of Lime Kiln Road, between Shenandoah Road and the Lime Kiln Road Extension, which is a dark and unlit section of roadway.

The investigation is continuing, and autopsy results are pending. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call East Fishkill Police at 221-2111.
