A Hudson Valley man was convicted in a domestic assault case.

On Wednesday in Ulster County Court, 58-year-old Alan Planthaber of the Town of Ulster was convicted of assault.

On December 1, 2017, around at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Ulster Police Department responded to a panic alarm at a home in the Town of Ulster.

Through a window an officer observed blood on the walls inside and the victim, covered in blood, hovering in a corner.

Police say the victim was repeatedly beaten by Planthaber. The unnamed victim suffered a fractured jaw and numerous broken ribs.

Planthaber has a previous domestic assault charge on his record, from Alaska. He's scheduled to be sentenced in August.

There were 2,360 domestic incidents reported in Ulster County last year, according to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.
