Over the last few years my kids looked forward to dropping candy off at the great halloween candy exchange.

Unfortunately the candy exchange is sadly no more.

According to the exchange's Facebook page, after 10 years they have decided to end the popular exchange.

The exchange would give kids books and more in exchange for there Halloween candy and then ship the candy overseas to our troops.

The post reads:

Sadly, the Great Halloween Candy Exchange has come to an end. There will be no more candy exchange.
Although our overseas troops have appreciated our candy donations, they are trying hard to stay in shape and are cutting back on sugary sweets.

Over the past 10 years, the Great Halloween Candy Exchange has sent a total of more than 25,000 pounds of leftover Halloween candy to U.S. military personnel serving overseas, along with many kind notes and cards written by the children.

Very sad to see the exchange end. If anybody decides to start it up again we will be sure to let you know.
