Looks like a Hudson Valley baseball prospect is heading to the Majors!

According to the Times Herald, Zack Short, a 2013 Kingston High school graduate, will sign a professional contract with the Chicago Cubs by the end of the week.

The 21-year-old Short, who is a junior infielder at Sacred Heart in Fairfield, Connecticut, was selected by the Cubs in the 17th-round, as the 524th pick overall, during Friday's Major League draft.

Short led Kingston to the New York state Class AA championship in 2012. He'll forego his senior year at Sacred Heart and will likely report to the Eugene Emeralds, which is Cubs’ Class A farm team in Eugene, Oregon.
