The social media post was posted back on Nov. 20.

According to the Daily Freeman, Ulster County corrections officer, Charles “CJ” Polacco is now under investigation for a Facebook post that some are calling racist and sexist.

Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum told the Freeman that his department is investigating the post to determine whether the 27-year veteran corrections officer violated the Sheriff’s Office’s social media policy.

The social media policy states that, “As members of the Sheriff’s Office, employees are embodiments of its mission” and should “strive to maintain the public trust,” both on and off duty.

Here is what the officer posted back on Nov. 20:

“This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, ‘Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare.’ So I explained to her that my dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can’t speak English and have no freaking clue as to who their daddies are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care and feel guilty because they are dogs. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My dogs get their first checks on Friday and can register as Democrats for the next election. Damn, this is a great country.”

As you can imagine, many people are angry over the post including Ulster County Executive Michael Hein, who told the Freeman that he was “repulsed and infuriated” by the post, which he called both “racist and sexist.”

We hope to have Sheriff Van Blarcum on the Wakin' Up With CJ and Jess show tomorrow to let us know where they are with the investigation.
