If your dream job is being outside all summer instead of being cooped up inside, then this is for you. The New York State Parks are looking for lifeguards for the upcoming summer season and the lifeguard's exams are currently being held at various locations across the state.

According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, there are openings for seasonal lifeguard positions throughout the DEC campgrounds in the Adirondacks as well as the Catskills, and some include free housing.

While you can get all of the information needed to be a lifeguard at dec.ny.gov, here are a few details to see if this is right for you. You must be at least 16 years of age, have current certifications in several American Red Class classes, meet the vision requirement, and have attended a DEC Lifeguard orientation.

In addition, a full criminal background check will be conducted, plus each candidate will need to successfully complete the practical examination and any other training programs offered by the agency. These exams are currently taking place. For instance, you could take the exam at Monroe Woodbury MS on Sunday, April 22 at 9 am or at SUNY Cobleskill Bouck Hall in Cobleskill on Sunday, May 6 at 9 am.

Imagine, you could spend all summer outdoors, make some money, and help people like me, feel a lot safer because you're there.
