Summer has arrived which means we can now officially look forward to and start making our plans for all the County Fairs we get to enjoy in the Hudson Valley each year. Unlike some communities that only have one county fair, the Hudson Valley has many and they all offer their own brand of fun with all of the traditional county fair favorites.

The 2016 Fair season will kick off with fried Oreos, 4 H and midway fun with the 176th Orange County Fair in Middletown on July 20th and run through July 31st. Once again this year they will offer their rides and entertainment, plus they are the fair where you get to go racing with the Orange County Speedway.

Starting August 2nd and running through August 7th it is off to Libertyville Road in New Paltz for the 130th Ulster County Fair. Opening night as always will be Car Load Night which means put all the kids in the car for a great night of county fair fun and fireworks. Once again this year they will have the tractor and truck pulls which always bring out an exciting crowd.

Following those two fairs we can take a small break and then we head off to Rhinebeck for a week of music, food and fair fun that has been happening for over 170 years, the Dutchess County Fair. With Livestock Hill and 4 H milkshakes plus local and Nashville entertainment at the grandstand, the Dutchess County Fair is the perfect way to enjoy the Hudson Valley fair season with the whole family.

Other great county fairs to check out are listed below.

Don't miss Chase Rice August 26th at the Dutchess County Fair.
