HITS Rider Dies After Being Thrown From Horse

Police responded to HITS in Saugerties for a report of an medical emergency, after a rider was thrown from their horse. 

When police arrived, the EMS team from HITS was performing CPR on the victim. The victim is identified as Rebecca Weissbard, 22, of Manorville, NY. Paramedics arrived at the scene, and were unable to revive Weissbard.

Following an investigation by police, it was established that Weissbard was competing in Jump Off competition, and was attempting the second of ten hurdles when her horse struck the cross pole, ejecting Weissbard from the horse.

According to a press release, Weissbard sustained fatal injuries as a result of her horse falling onto her.
