If you're heading down to NYC this Thursday make sure you are aware of all the rules. St. Patrick's Day is one of the biggest drinking days of the year and Metro North will be taking precautions. If you're taking the train to the big St. Patrick's Day Parade, then make sure you take this into consideration:

In 2011, Metro North, prohibited drinking on weekend trains. The reason, obviously to cut down the amount of passengers who were under the influence and causing disturbances. This Thursday(aka St. Patrick's Day) they will be doing the same thing. Metro North and LIRR Trains will be dry starting Thursday and lasting until Friday at 5am. Metro North police will be confiscating any type of alcohol they see.  The Daily News is reporting that the Bar Cars at Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station will be closed as well.

While boozer is banned, Metro North and LIRR will be offering more trains to the city. So if you're planning to go to the city and enjoy the St.Patrick's Day festivities, please be careful and respect the rail rules.
