Miranda first came to national attention in 2003 when she competed on Nashville Star and placed third in the competition. I remember hearing her first single 'Me and Charlie Talking' and thinking that here's someone who doesn't sound like everybody else, is unique and talented, just what country music needs. She's never let us down.

She was born November 10, 1983 in Texas and was named after her great-grandmother Lucy Miranda. According to Wikipedia, she appeared on the Johnnie High Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas when she was 16 and then headed to Nashville for a recording session. Things didn't quite go as planned as she left the studio after becoming frustrated with the "pop" type of music presented to her. So she went back to Texas and asked her dad to teach her how to play guitar, so she could write her own songs. The rest, of course, is history.

'Famous in a Small Town' was off of her second album 'Crazy Ex Girlfriend', released in 2007. Miranda wrote 11 of the tracks, including all 4 singles. In 2009, she released her third album, 'Revolution' with 5 singles released including 2 number one hits 'Heart Like Mine', and this song, which always gets me, 'The House that built me'.

In 2011 she and Blake were married, she released her fourth album and then her fifth, each album getting better and better. Of course, we all know about their recent, very public, divorce. As she said last week when she won CMA Female vocalist of the year, it's been a rough year. Miranda, as we wish you a very Happy Birthday, here's to bigger and better and happier times ahead. Thank you for being who you are and for sharing your talent with us.Click here to wish Miranda a Happy Birthday!
