WICCOPEE -  If the intensity of this Wappinger Central Schools Inter-district rivalry was this high on a Saturday afternoon, one could only imagine how crazy it would have been as a Friday night game. The John Jay vs Ketcham Boys basketball game was scheduled for Friday night but an early dismal due to weather pushed the game to Saturday afternoon. It was still loud, and it was still crazy because the game was all you could ask for in a high school basketball rivalry.

The visiting Ketcham Indians started off on a tear. Tim Reilly had 12 first half points and Albert Perez sunk three 3-pointers in the first quarter. Ketcham led 18-11 after 1 and by as much as 13 points midway through the second. But John Jay systematically reduced the deficit and got the game to within 5 (32-27) with the help of a monster dunk by Hugh Huggins just as the first half buzzer sounded. That dunk and the emotion of the Jay fans gave Jay incredible momentum going into the second half, led by Ryan Schumacher. Schumacher scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter and Jay grabbed the lead 59-56.

The final four minutes of the game saw several lead changes and ties as the clock ticked away. Jay's Ryan Metz hit a huge three pointer giving Jay the lead for good and the Patriots pulled the dramatic win with a 67-64 win.
