HIGHLAND, NY - If you own a husky then you know that you can't let them off their leash otherwise they'll run away and never return.

It's part of the husky breed, their call of the wild. Well the Marlboro boys basketball team found that out Friday night when the Highland Huskies boys basketball team kept running away from them on the scoreboard. Highland started the game off on a 9-2 run after Marlboro power forward Tyler Banks scored the first two points of the game, and Banks' ONLY two points in the game.

The Iron Dukes were able to close the gap, but every time Marlboro got it close or tied it, Highland ran further ahead to keep its distance.

"Our defense gave us composure and made them loose their composure," noted Highland senior guard  Corey Garcia (19 pts). Defense and rebounding was the key for Highland and the fact that they held Banks, Marlboro's leading scorer to just 2 points  Damien Lowe and company tied the game up at halftime (24-24) but Highland started the second half on a 6-0 run.

The Huskies had built up an 8 point lead in the second half that Marlboro was able to reduce to 2 or 3, but every time the Dukes got close, Highland would run a little further away.

Nick Palmatier finished the game with 15 points, Damien Lowe led Marlboro with 12 points, Julian Allen had 10.  Highland shot 64% from the free throw line making 20 of 31 shots. The Huskies ended up knocking off the Dukes, 56-48.
