This weekend we flip the calendar from September to October. And in the blink of an eye things get spooky.

Personally, I'm one of those people who starts carving pumpkins and watching scary movies as soon as the clock strikes midnight on October 1st. Who am I kidding, I've already started. This weekend not only kicks off the official start of the Halloween season, but also the opening of many haunted attractions.

This is a little outside the Hudson Valley, but hey you can enjoy the fall foliage as you drive up. There are free tours of the New York State Capitol Building in Albany. With so much history, there has to be some haunted happenings going on in the Capitol. There are stories of the night watchman, who died in the 1911 fire, roaming the halls as well as stories of Presidents of the past making a visit as well.

The New York Capitol Building tour program is taking reservations now. If you're planning to go with a group of 10 or more call (518)474-2418. Take a look at their calendar for times and tour availability on their website
