The weather this weekend is looking really good to get outside and have some fun, and maybe, do a little fishing. What, you say you don't have a fishing license? That isn't a problem when you participate in a Department of Environmental Conservation Fishing Clinic.

The DEC sponsors free sport fishing events which are family fishing clinics. You can can fish for free; no freshwater fishing license or enrollment in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry is required.

In addition to fishing, you can also learn about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, fisheries management, angling ethics and aquatic ecology. In addition to these free sport fishing events, mark June 25 and 26 on your calendar because it is Free Fishing Weekend throughout New York.

Here's a few of the upcoming Free Fishing Clinics:

Saturday, April 23; 1-4: Free Family Fishing Day at SUNY New Paltz, at the large lower pond.
Sunday, April 24; 9-1: Free Family Fishing Day at Overlook Park in Poughkeepsie.
Saturday, June 4; 9-1: Free Family Fishing Day at Chadwick Lake Park in Newburgh
Sunday, June 12; 9-2: Free Family Fishing Day at Ashokan Reservoir in Hurley.
