Now that we're a month into it, families are finally getting accustomed to the start of a new school year.

Kids and parents alike are running around going to sports practices and band lessons all while figuring out how to get their homework done on time. The joys of going back to school.

One of the most important parts of being back in the swing of things is child safety. The Town of Ulster Police is doing what they can to keep kids safe and have their neighborhoods.

On Saturday, September 30, from 11am until 4pm the Ulster County Police Department will be hosting Children's Safety Day. The event will be held at the Hudson Valley Mall right in front of Old Navy. There will be free children ID cards being made.

If you're interested in getting your child an ID card, they must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardian for the ID to be issued.
