Parts of the Newburgh waterfront will look dramatically different in a few years if the new project is approved. The Times Herald Record reports a project including retail shops, marina and over 200 apartments has been proposed.

The 11 acre parcel that formerly housed Gully's and parking for the ferry was recently purchased by R. Black Global for $5.7 million. On Tuesday they outlined their plans before the Newburgh planning board. The company also has experience with similar projects in Brooklyn and San Francisco.

The main focus of the project would be the four residential buildings with two levels of parking garages. An additional building will house artist lofts and river access will still be available to the public in the form of a 20 foot walkway.

The environmental review is slated to take from six months to a year, but they could be breaking ground by this time next year if all goes according to plan. It's always nice to see positive Hudson Valley development, but we're going to miss Gully's and all the good times on the boat!
