The 29th annual Fleet Week in New York City has started and will run now thru Tuesday, May 30th.

It all kicked off yesterday with the Parade of Ships and will continue for the next week honoring the members of the United States Navy, Coast Guard and Marine Corps.

According to CBS, there looks to be over 4,000 sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen expected to take part in this year’s events, the theme this year is “Celebrating the Sea Services and commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Seabees.” For 75 years, members of the Naval Construction forces, known as the Seabees, have repeatedly demonstrated their skills as fighters and builders.

There will be numerous exhibits, military band concerts, and aviation demonstrations throughout the week showcasing the skilled expertise of our dedicated sea service members.

If you plan on going to Fleet week there are different things going on each day like General Public Ship Tours that get underway at 8 a.m.

Friday they will have a Joint Re-enlistment/Promotions Ceremony at the National September 11 Memorial starting at 2 p.m.

Saturday is Marine Day at Prospect Park and will feature a formation run followed by military static displays, demos, and a performance by the USMC Battle Color Detachment.
