Fire Destroys Hopewell Junction Hardware Store

Fire has brought down a popular, locally owned hardware store. The William Tell Hardware store on Route 82 in Hopewell Junction.

According to the Poughkeepsie Journal, the fire was reported by someone driving by around 11 pm Saturday. It took firefighters from 9 companies around 8 hours to get the blaze under control and extinguished.

The building was a complete loss as firefighters had to tare the building down to make it easier to fight the fire. East Fishkill fire chief, Kevin Geysen told the Poughkeepsie Journal that one firefighter suffered a minor injury, but was treated at the scene. And that the East Fishkill Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause.
