The next time you log on to Facebook you may want to think twice before you accept a new friend request.

According to FOX 5, there is a new Facebook scam that is making its way across the social media platform.

Here is how it works, a scammer will steal Facebook pictures and information from a legitimate page to create a clone page. The con artist then connects with that person’s friends and tries to get money or information for identity theft.

Zeus Mitchell Paredes had the scam happen to him and told FOX 5 that his friends were saying,

"Hey, somebody created a fake Facebook profile of you with your picture and that they were asking for money."

Online security experts say that this scam, like most, are targeted towards older people, especially if its a child or grandchild that appears to be the one asking for money.

A good rule to go by is to talk to the person on the phone before you even think of sending them money or do like I do and never send money to anyone who asks for it online.
