A sex offender who pleaded guilty to rape and criminally negligent homicide of a teen moved within walking distance of a Hudson Valley elementary school.

According to Kingston Police, 32-year-old Lindsey Latourtte, a Level-3 sex offender, is now living on Washington Avenue in Kingston. Level-3 sex offenders are considered to have the highest risk of a repeat offense and are considered the greatest risk to the public.

According to the New York State Sex Offender’s database, in 2010, Latourtte was convicted for raping a 15-year-old boy. She was sentenced to 16 months to four years in prison.

In 2008, Latourtte raped 15-year-old Evan Wisniewski in Saugerties and gave the teen at fatal dose of methadone, reports ABC. She pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, rape and criminal sale of a controlled substance, all felonies, in 2010.

Latourtte’s new home is just 0.4 of a mile from George Washington Elementary in Kingston. According to Google Maps, it’s an eight minute walk, a two minute drive, or a two minute bike ride from her new home to the elementary school.

A fire that took the life a Hudson Valley father and son and local police saved two people who were suicidal tops this week in local news.
