A Dutchess County woman was allegedly caught bringing six different drugs into a local prison while visiting a friend.

On Saturday, New York State Police from Ellenville charged 32-year-old Amanda L. Lewis of Poughkeepsie with promoting prison contraband, six-counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession a controlled substance outside of its original container.

State Police conducted an investigation into Lewis after a New York State Department of Corrections K-9 Officer allegedly found a prescription bottle on her that contained six different types of controlled substances.

The drugs were found on Lewis when she entered a Town of Wawarsing prison, police say. She is also accused of possessing a marijuana cigarette and a marijuana grinder on prison grounds.

Lewis was arraigned in the Town of Rochester Court and was remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $500 secured bond.
