Scary situation in Rhinebeck yesterday.

According to the Rhinebeck Fire Departments Facebook page, firefighters had to respond to 27 Wynkoop lane in Rhinebeck on Tuesday afternoon for a reported dump truck roll over and fire.

Firefighters arrived on the scene of the accident just after 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and found that slippery conditions had caused a dump truck to roll over and then catch fire.

Construction workers on site and firefighters were able to right the over turned dump truck by using an excavator.

Once the truck was right side up, firefighters were able to extinguish the fire that broke out in the cab of the truck, which was destroyed by the fire.

The driver of the truck was able to escape without injury but one firefighter was injured when he fell on snow covered ice while stretching hose lines. The firefighter was transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital for injuries to his leg and ankle.
