A drug dealer who was found guilty in court of robbing and killing a Hudson Valley man will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Following a 9-day trial in January, a Westchester County Jury found Anthony Grecco, 35, of Manville, New Jersey guilty of robbing and killing 25-year-old Ryan Ennis of Ossining. Wednesday Grecco was sentenced to life in prison.

“Anthony Grecco violently murdered Ryan Ennis, repeatedly stabbing him and slashing his throat, all for a few thousand dollars Ennis had for marijuana he thought Grecco was delivering,” U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara stated. “The significant sentence imposed on Grecco today reflects the horrific and cold-hearted nature of his crime.”

According to evidence from the trial, Grecco was a marijuana dealer from New Jersey. During the spring of 2014, Ennis began buying weed from Grecco and reselling it in Westchester County. In the summer of 2014, Grecco’s marijuana supply ran out and he was desperate for cash.

Grecco setup a meeting with Ennis under the false pretense that he was going to sell him weed. Prosecutors say Grecco intended to rob Ennis and kill him if necessary. It’s believed that Grecco wanted to use the money to invest in a New Jersey heroin business.

On August 26, 2014, Grecco showed up at Ennis’s father’s apartment. Grecco robbed Ennis of $8,900 and stabbed him multiple times and slashed his throat, killing him.

Grecco was found guilty on all five counts including conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, Hobbs Act robbery, conspiracy to distribute marijuana, conspiracy to distribute heroin and travel act murder.
