Many families in the Hudson Valley, as well as across the country, are doing their best to deal with a loved one who is addicted to pain killers and/or heroin. This addiction can not only destroy a life but also rip families apart.

The Poughkeepsie Journal is reporting that Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro and Dutchess County Legislator Gwen Johnson, together with the Health & Human Services Cabinet will host a “Community Forum on Opiates, Heroin and PCP - Drug Addiction & Prevention” tonight at 6 pm at the Poughkeepsie High School to help prevent and treat substance abuse, signs to look for, and where to go for help.

This 3 hour event is free and open to the public and will have a panel discussion moderated by Margaret Hirst, a licensed clinical social worker with the Dutchess County Department of Mental Hygiene along with other representatives from various agencies and groups throughout the community.

If you, or someone you know, is struggling with this issue, please share this information with them or their family.
